53.(a) A competent authority may appoint\u00a0an officer to hold substantively or to\u00a0<\/strong>officiate in two or more independent posts at one time.<\/strong><\/p>\n (b) The competent authority who appoints an officer to hold or to officiate in\u00a0a second post in addition to his own, will declare whether he officiates in or\u00a0holds full charge of the additional post or is appointed merely to discharge\u00a0the current duties. It should also specify in each case the amount of special\u00a0allowance, if any, to be granted, the amount being subject to the following\u00a0limits :-<\/p>\n (1) If an officer is\u00a0appointed to officiate in a second post<\/strong>\u00a0and to\u00a0hold in\u00a0<\/strong>addition full charge\u00a0of<\/strong>\u00a0his own post, he may be allowed to draw the\u00a0highest pay to which he would be entitled if his appointment to one of\u00a0the posts stood alone **and in addition special allowance which\u00a0should\u00a0<\/strong>not exceed 4 per cent\u00a0<\/strong>of the minimum\u00a0of the scale of pay of other post\u00a0with effect from the 1st day of February, 2011 or the date of change over\u00a0to the revised scale ordered in G.O.(P) No.85\/2011\/Fin. dated the 26th\u00a0February, 2011, which ever is later.The highest pay referred to above\u00a0may be specifically reduced by the competent authority at its discretion.<\/p>\n If compensatory allowance is attached to one of the posts, he may be\u00a0permitted to draw it in full and if compensatory allowances are attached\u00a0to more than one of the posts, the allowance which may be granted to\u00a0him should not exceed the larger allowance.<\/p>\n (2)\u00a0If the officer is appointed to\u00a0hold full charge<\/strong>\u00a0of one or more posts in\u00a0addition to his own,\u00a0the\u00a0special allowance\u00a0<\/strong>which may be granted to him in respect of each additional post should\u00a0not exceed 4 per cent of\u00a0<\/strong>the minimum of the scale<\/strong> of that post with effect from the 1st day of February, 2011 or the date of change over to the revised scale ordered in G.O.(P).
